Description

Are you looking for more information on how to set up a Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP) at your nursing home facility to teach Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)? In New York State, all NATP in nursing homes preparing students for testing to become certified nurse aides (CNAs) must be approved for operation by the New York State Department of Health.

This program will introduce course attendees to the components necessary for submission of the completed NATP application to NYSDOH including the review of the following program development topics:

• Overview of the NATP process 
• Foundational knowledge of state and federal requirements
• NATP Curriculum requirements
• Development of policies and protocols
• Guidance on:
  • Development of Application to NYSDOH
  • Selection of Nurse Educator
  • Selection of employees
• Standard training and competency expectations for unlicensed, non-certified employees for the provision of safe care
• Resource Overview for CNA evaluations and certification testing
